Turn to Al Muqallib Al Quloob

TurnerOfHearts

Rasoolullah (sallAllahu alyhi wasallam) said,

“The heart (qalb) takes its name from its constant changes (taqallub – alteration, variation, ups and downs). The likeness of the heart is that of a feather at the root of a tree, being turned over and over by the wind.”

(Reported by Ahmad, 4/408; Saheeh al-Jaami’, 2364)

‘Abdullah ibn Shaddâd said:

“I heard the sobbing of ‘Umar from the last rows while he was reciting the verse from the Qur’ân:

إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّهِ

“I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allâh”.
(Prophet Yaqoob ‘alayhissalam in Surah Yusuf 12:86)
